Characteristics and performance of Xiamen VSC-HVDC transmission demonstration project

摘要

Xiamen VSC-HVDC transmission demonstration project is the highest voltage level and the largest capacity VSC-HVDC project in the world. In this paper, the structure and operation modes of this project are detailed. System control strategies and engineering results in STATCOM operating mode and HVDC operating mode are also given. The recorded waveforms show that the setout requirements of active power and reactive power are well satisfied in the two operating modes. The characteristics and performance of the project show a bright future of VSC-HVDC technology in high voltage and large capacity power transmission area.
