This paper presents technical study and analysis of interconnection of cluster based micro hydro plants forming a local rural grid. For this purpose, six micro hydro plants located in two different clusters of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) of Ghandruk region, Kaski district of Nepal are chosen. All essential parameters required for the formulation of power system network model have been appropriately considered. Using a specific power system network model for each cluster, load flow study is conducted for both peak and off-peak hours using ETAP under contingency and non-contingency conditions. For both clusters, simulation results show the formation of a local grid aids in the utilization of surplus power during off peak hours, which is not possible when micro hydro plants run in stand-alone mode.
