In recent years the electric energy sector has been experiencing an expansion into distributed generation, and in this context microgrids have been achieving increasing importance. A microgrid is formed by a set of microsources of electric power, loads and storage elements, which may operate connected or isolated from the main grid. However, since it is based on generators composed of programmable electronic converters, microgrids have usually low short-circuit power what makes them very susceptible to power quality (PQ) problems. This paper presents an analysis of the series operation between passive and active filter connected to an AC microgrid operating isolated from the main grid. Through simulation it will be evaluated the series hybrid filter performance in harmonic compensation and damping of harmonic resonance, contributing to improving the power quality in the microgrid.
