Hydrogenated P(VDF-co-TrFE)s with low TrFE molar contents are synthesized by atom transfer radical chains transfer (ATRCT) and controllable elimination reactions. Then related characterization methods with the aid of DSC techniques are employed to evaluate the crystalline phase transition phenomenon, which shows that the all-trans beta phase could be found in hydrogenated P(VDF-co-TrFE) with low TrFE molar content different from the traditional copolymer. By investigating the dielectric frequency spectrums, the effect of field induced crystal structure on its ferroelectric property is depicted. As a result, a high polarization of 9 µC/cm and piezoelectric constant of −25pC/N are obtained in the 20mol% hydrogenated P(VDF-co-TrFE) film, which provides a reliable result for the structure design of this kind of copolymer aiming at piezoelectric applications.
