Reliability engineering is opening its boundaries within research field related to industrial processes due to study methods of problems analysis and investigation which facilitate for production and maintenance engineers improve their results, decrease production costs and keeping the business competitiveness. By using control and monitoring systems available in the market nowadays it is possible to design and build adapted systems for different processes and manufacture types. This article's aim is to demonstrate which knowledge areas are essential to supervisory system implementation that is capable of controlling and monitoring the needed variables and provide Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for reliability analysis.
