The article presents the results of an experiment designed to determine the impact of initial phases of higher harmonics of the supply voltage of a single-phase transformer on the power losses in its core. It has been shown that a reliable research of the impact of harmonic of the supply voltage of a transformer on its losses is possible, taking into account not only the amplitudes of these harmonics, but also their initial phases. This is particularly important in the context of often hastily formulated conclusions that the power losses in a transformer increase at its supply with a non-sinusoidal voltage. It has been also noted that low order harmonics have a major impact on the power losses in transformer core.
