This paper investigates the propagating mechanisms of ElectroMagnetic (EM) wave in seawater for high data-rate wireless communications. We introduce a novel model of undersea transmission that is able to account for all propagation paths of EM wave, without increasing the computational complexity. Different propagation mechanisms have been simulated in the virtual seawater environment. The sea surface provides a remarkably effective propagation path to the horizontal transmission between two antennas whereas significant attenuation of EM propagation exists in the vertical transmission. The Rician distribution is observed being the fitted local fading for the radio channel of the undersea environment according to Kolmogorov-Smirnov criterion.
