摘要

Disc brake squeal attracting much attention during the last few decades is a kind of noise caused by the unwanted self-excited instability that is induced by the friction forces. For the purpose of forecasting and suppressing this annoying sound, the features of this phenomenon should be extracted and investigated. In this study, an improved ensemble empirical mode decomposition method is developed to extract the signatures of squeal phenomenon by analyzing squealing signals measured by a sound level meter. The results demonstrate the proposed method offer preferable performance than ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) in respect of alleviating the mode mixing problem.
