In this paper, a novel compact ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with two notched-band is presented and implemented. Combining half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) and nonuniform periodic half circle-shaped defected ground structure (DGS), a compact UWB bandpass filter with high selectivity is realized. A modify electromagnetic bandgap structures (EBG) is studied and employed to introduce two notched-bands, which is placed near the feedline to achieve the undesired notched band. The measured BPF insert loss is less than 1.2 dB throughout the pass band from 3.0 GHz to 12 GHz. The measured results demonstrates the validity of proposed UWB filter.
