A new type of fiber adsorbent which was prepared from waste paper,available in large quantity in modern society,was used as low~cost adsorbent for dye wastewater.The adsorption model was investigated by adsorption equilibrium experiment.And Langmuir,Freundlich and Temkin have been employed to analyze the adsorption equilibrium data.Langmuir equation was found to have the highest values of R2 compared with other models.Furthermore,it was found that paper floccus have a high maximum adsorptive capacity towards MB dye from the Langmuir model was 285.5 mg/g at 318 K.And the values of separation factor RL which were less than 1 showed the adsorption is favorable.In addition,the adsorption equilibrium data fits best with the Langmuir isotherm at a high temperature,and has a tendency of fitting the Freundlich isotherm with temperature decreasing.It showed that it is between the range of the monolayer and multi~layer adsorption model.The adsorption process is spontaneous as indicated by the negative value of the standard free energy ΔG.Results show that paper floccus is effective for the removal of MB dye from water.
