Thermal expansion and cracking of the ceramic potting in dispenser cathodes can lead to failed cathodes. Finding alternative potting materials or optimizing current potting materials with additives may be an avenue to improve the quality of dispenser cathodes. This paper is the result of an undergraduate student project performed by the University of Kentucky with the sponsorship of Semicon Associates of Lexington, KY.
