System Architecture for Ride Portfolio Reporting Employing Energy Harvesting Scheme

Onboard scavenging systems are considered as a source of electrical power. Since power harvested form such a system is a function of road roughness, vehicle speed, and the velocity of the vibrating suspension system of the vehicle, we assert that such system may not only be a source of scavenged electrical power, but also the basis of valuable data that can be used in several expedient ways. In this paper, we propose a system architecture that will collect and make use of this valuable data. According to the proposal, the system will deduce information from onboard energy scavenging system, index it with GPS coordinates, endorse it with timestamp, and make a portfolio of consolidated information. This information will then be dispensed to a dedicated server residing in a trusted third party network, where it will be accessed and used for several third party applications such as assessment of road roughness, evaluation of automobile's suspension system, and perceiving the driver behavior, etc. The proposed architecture consists of three key subsystems, named as Energy-scavenging and Data-acquisition Subsystem (EDS), Portfolio Dispatch Subsystem (PDS), and Storage and Analysis Subsystem (SAS). The holistic system presented in this paper is capable of offering plethora of value added services in cost effective way.
