In this study, single-phase AC-DC system with passive snubber based soft-switched boost converter is proposed and presented. The novelty of the proposed passive snubber cell is that, it provides zero current switching turn-on and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) turn-off for the controlled switch without extra current or voltage stress. Boost diode is also turned on at zero current and is turned off at ZVS. In addition to soft switching, the special feature of this converter is, ease of control in feedback system. Because, the feedback system employs power factor correction (PFC) controller IC ICE2PCS01, which does not require sensing of input current signal. The input line current and output voltage are controlled by the proposed PFC converter in very wide load range. In this study, detailed steady-state analysis of proposed converter is presented, and this theoretical analysis is verified exactly by 400 V, 500 W and 100 kHz prototype. This prototype has total efficiency of 97 % and 0.997 power factor with input line sinusoidal current at full load.
