Synonymous codon usage bias is a common phenomenon across species. This phenomenon is due primarily to two major factors, namely mutational pressure and translational selection, among others. The analysis of synonymous codon usage is useful to understand the gene expression patterns of an organism. In this research, we studied the synonymous codon usage bias in human coxsackievirus A13 strain Flores. It was found that A+U is preferentially used in the third synonymous codon position. In addition, we found that the studied strain adopted a less biased synonymous codon usage pattern. Our study sheds light for the further research in the field of drug design and immunotherapy against human coxsackievirus infection.
