Model predictive control (MPC) predicts the variation of the controlled variable according to the model of the controlled object, and then chooses the control action that minimizes the cost function. This paper applies MPC to power control of doubly-fed power generation system. The influence of control delay is investigated and a compensation method is proposed. This method has a simple control structure which excludes the synchronous rotating coordinate transformation and controller parameter tuning. Simulation results prove that this method can realize the independent control of the active and reactive power of grid-side converter (GSC) and rotor-side converter (RSC) with a fast dynamic response and good steady precision.
