To shield the firefighter from the ultra-high ambient heat the results of the experiments were analyzed on a combination of lightweight fabric and materials with excellent fire insulation performance. The data obtained from these experiments show that the integrated thermal protection properties of fabrics containing silica aerogels are better than those of the GA10-2002 protective clothing, which is considered as the standard safety turnouts for firefighters. When the multilayer fabric was exposed to the heat or flame at 4501 for 60 seconds, the temperature behind it was measured at less than 50℃. The fabric thus proves to be capable of insulating the heat up to 400t and to provide some protection for firefighters.
