Construction of the single largest project to date on the City of Indianapolis CSOrnProgram has been successful, but faced challenges. Microtunneling six drives of arn72-inch pipe some 4,000 ft through glacial outwash and dense till has tested the RasarnMicrotunnel Tunnel Boring Machine and the construction team. Highly abrasive sandrnwith cobbles below the water table, contaminated groundwater in shaft excavations,rnsteering forces that broke the pipe joints and a void below a concrete pavement thatrntook 46 cubic yards of flowable fill are amongst the issues that were addressed andrndiscussed in this paper.
