The three dimensional flow field in the intake port of the non-road small spark-ignition engine was carried on the numerical simulation computation. Through the analysis of flow field, we studied how to reduce the mutations of intake port cross-section and improve the flow capacity of the intake port using numerical simulation method. After the parameter optimization, the gas flow increased to 31.24g/h from 27.84g/h under maximum valve lift, enhanced by 12.21%. Studies showed that there are two key points about optimization Design of small engine's intake port, first, maintaining the flow of cross-sectional area of airway can prevent a sudden change on it and avoid the formation of dead air; second, handling the changes of structural in the corner.
