From the mechanism of water inrush in mining floor, the stress distribution of the floor affected by faults can be analyzed, thus deriving the key areas which are easy to guide water. The results show that under the influence of faults, the rocks in the floor are badly destroyed, cracks further developed. As the working face is advancing, stress of the areas, from the gob to the fault, changes sharply, and is easy to guide water. By numerical simulation, the stress distribution of floor and the rock destruction can be analyzed, thus inferring the areas that may contribute to water inrush. By analysis of the engineering projects, the existence of critical areas can be determined and some engineering measures can be taken.
