With the support of RS and GIS, on the basis of the datasets in the Tianshui hydrometrical station, the paper uses the SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model to simulate the process of runoff yield in Luoyugou typical watershed in Gansu province. The parameter for this model came from the runoff yield observation, the plot experimentation, the soil physical properties experiment and weather data analysis, The main studies of this paper are as follows: parameterization of the model, sensitivity of the parameters, calibration and validation of the model, the application of the model and analysis the contribution rate of LUCC to the surface runoff. The results show that the SWAT model is available in Loess Plateau, and the Nash-Suttcliffe coefficient is greater than 0.8.Through simulating the runoff under supposed scenario model, the model can accurately predict the contribution rate of LUCC to the runoff is 73%.
