This paper examines a process of drawing carbon steel wire in dies with different bearing and approach angles for estimation of their effects on mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, number of bends, number of twists, and number of cycles to failure in a rotational beam test. The most significant effects were found in the number of cycles to failure and number of twists. A decrease in the longitudinal residual stress in the surface layer was found to play a key role depending on angle and length of approach and bearing zones.
