摘要

PHPs were complex heat transfer devices having a strong thermo-hydrodynamic coupling governing its thermal performance. So understanding of the fundamental processes` and parameters affecting the PHPs operation are still vague. Various experimental and theoretical investigations are being carried out to achieve this task. This paper analyzed the heat transfer process of PHPs and highlighted the variables’ affection on the thermal performance of it. The better understanding of the relation between the PHPs and more complicated environment, such as in the environment of weight loss, is the future direction of the study of PHPs. Parameters effecting the thermal performance of PHP were analyzed which also have an important bearing on the future direction and strategy of mathematical modeling. The existing mathematical models of PHPs are also list to be referenced.
