When working in mature fields, one needs a lot ofrnimagination because many times economic resources arernlimited. Workovers, that utilize proven and new technologyrnmay solve this problem. Using existing wells that already haverncasing, tubing, artificial lift systems and surface facilities is anrnexcellent way to increase reserves and production with a smallrninvestment. Identifying the candidates for the workovers is thernkey to success.rnIn 2005, 43 wells were worked over in the Texas County,rnOklahoma area of the Hugoton and Panoma Fields, resultingrnin a production increase of 2,914 MSCFD for a total cost ofrnonly $1.6 MM. Payout of the program occurred in just 4.6rnmonths, using a conservative gas price of only $3.89 perrnMSCF. The techniques involved fracture stimulation,rnmechanical wellbore cleanouts, artificial lift type changes andrnacidizing. A successful workover program should apply thernfundamentals of science and engineering, coupled with fieldrnoperations and geology. The screening methods developedrnmay lead to further workover activity with anticipated reservernand production increases in other areas of the Hugoton andrnPanoma Fields.
