Stock Preparation at Palm W?rth's PM6 Testliner and Corrugating Medium Line

In October 2002, Papierfabrik Palm GmbH & Co. KG started up a corrugating medium and testlinerrnmachine. The machine is located in W?rth, Germany. The concept of Palm′s newest paper machine isrnbased on Metso Paper′s 'OptiConcept' papermaking concept. PM 6 has a wire width of 11,000 mm and arndesign speed of 1800 m/min. The annual paper production capacity is 600,000 tons based entirely onrnrecycled fiber.rnStock preparation was delivered by Metso Paper and is providing 2,000 tons of brown grade (OCC)rnrecycled fiber daily. The stock preparation has two lines and each line starts with a LC-pulper, twornsecondary pulpers and one reject drum. It is followed by coarse screening consisting of high-consistencyrncleaners and deflaking screens. The low-consistency cleaning is followed by fractionation and thickeningrnfor short-, medium- and long-fiber fractions. The long-fiber pulp is further treated in a dispersion stage withrnsubsequent press thickening, a preheater and in a conical disperger, complemented by low-consistencyrnrefining.rnThis paper describes the operating experiences and pulp quality results of PM 6's stock preparation afterrnapproximately two years of operation.
