A used press fabric analysis can provide a substantial amount of valuable information to the papermaker. It isrnimportant to understand not only the condition of the press fabric, but also what is revealed about the state of thernpress, and to some extent, the papermaking operation in general up to the point of pressing. This paper will give arnpractical explanation of all the information presented in a typical used press fabric laboratory report. Each type ofrntest will be explained in terms of its meaning and significance, as well as how to interpret the results in a usefulrnmanner. This will provide the papermaker with the tools to extract the maximum value from this service generallyrnoffered by the fabric suppliers.
