For the past decade, technology innovation andrnapplication have helped to significantly reduce the cost ofrnexploring and producing oil and gas, proving the valuerntechnology can bring to the industry. Now while morerndiscoveries are found in ultra deepwater, there is a push tornlower CAPEX and OPEX while continuing to produce. Thisrnchallenge, for both operators and suppliers, compelsrncollaboration and cooperation for improving reliable andrninnovative technologies including:rn? Flow assurance technologyrn? Subsea processingrn? Floating structuresrn? Flowline and pipelinern? Risers and umbilicalsrnThis paper summarizes some of the results of severalrnrecent JIPs on ultra deepwater field development technologies.rnA review of emerging and existing technologies for deepwaterrndevelopment is presented, which would be of particularrninterest to technology development personnel and asset teamrnpersonnel who are in the appraisal or concept selection stagesrnof a project.
