A numerical simulation study was undertaken to model the gelrntreatments in injector and producer wells in Eastern VenezuelarnFractured HPHT Reservoirs in exploitation under secondaryrnand tertiary recovery process.rnThe objective of the simulation study is to develop arnnumerical simulation model based on field and laboratory datarnto model the gel treatments to block induced fractures andrnhigh permeable channels in water injection and oil producerrnwells, and to improve the conformance and the recoveryrnfactors.rnField data representation of a HPHT Fractured Venezuelanrnreservoir with preferential water movement and inducedrnfractures was used to build a conformance field prototypernmodel.rnThe gel used in the simulation study is a polymer systemrncomposed by polyacrylamide with phenol and formaldehyderncrosslinkers suitable to stand HPHT reservoir conditions.rnAvailable laboratory work and field data to characterise thernperformance of polymer gels in fractured wells were includedrnin the model and were history matched to predict alternate gelrntreatment scenarios.rnThe developed simulation model provides a tool to predict thernproduction performance of gel treatment in Eastern VenezuelarnFractured HPHT Reservoirs under different treatmentrnscenarios; useful to assist in the determination of: optimumrntreatment intervals, optimum procedures; and to develop datarnfor economic evaluations, improving the design of gelrntreatment and reducing associated uncertainties.
