Boron oxide (B_2O_3) was produced from boric acid (H_3BO_3) in a fludized bed reactor in two stages. At he first stage, the boric acid was converted to metaboric acid (H_3BO_3→HBO_2 + H_2O) at a bed temperature of 130℃ and then boron oxide was obtained by dehydration of metaboric acid in the second stage (2HBO_2 → B_2O_3 + H_2O) at a bed temperature between 225-235℃. Fabricated boron oxide had a high bulk density value of around 0,61 g/cm~3 and a high purity of over 98,5%. The mean particle size of boron oxide was about 650 μm. X-ray diffraction studies indicated that fabricated boron oxide powder was amorphous. SEM investigation of boron oxide powder indicated that boron oxide particles had a shape of platelets within large aggregates of between 300-600 μm.
