INTEGRATION OF MOBILE IP AND CELLULAR IP FOR HANDOFF MANAGEMENT BETWEEN ACCESS NETWORKS IN MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS OF THIRD GENERATION AND BEYOND

摘要

This paper presents a new proposal for managing mobility in a cellular framework beyond the third generation. The mobility is obtained by means of an integration and an expansion of the two mobility protocols: the IP and Cellular IP protocols. The proposed solution is based on an optimised mobile IP protocol with routing optimisation for macro mobility management. The designed architecture has been tested using the Network Simulator n frameworks. The experimental results show that it is effective in Quality of Service (QoS) terms, since it offers optimised routing, faster handoff procedures, a very low packet loss rate, and it supports real time communications.
