The Department of Energy has been sponsoring fuel cell development for 25 years. The challenge of reducing fuel cell costs is still before us. SECA and related programs are well designed to meet this and other future challenges. If highly efficient ultra-clean fuel cell technology can move from niche markets to widespread use in stationary power and transportation applications, the result will be significantly reduced emissions.
