We investigated the thermal stress in tubular-flat-plate (TFP) type solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) by computer simulation. We studied the cell temperature distribution under a boundary condition that corresponds to the experimental gas atmosphere. The three-dimensional thermal stress in the TEP-type SOFC was also studied by finite element method (FEM), applying the two-dimensional temperature distribution as a boundary condition.
