In this paper, new circuit design approaches for wireless handset power amplifiers with reduced power consumption for 3G cellular systems are presented. Basic circuit configuration for power amplifiers represents the switched-mode parallel-circuit Class E mode increasing the overall power-added efficiency. Broadband properties to overlap simultaneously several operating bandwidths like WCDMA, CDMA2000 andDCSlSOO with high efficiency and without output matching circuit tuning are discussed. The novel monolithic InGaP/GaAs HBT power amplifier configurations with switched segments and switched load with experimental and simulation results are also given.
