In the late 90s and up to late 2001 it had been assumed that time to market was the most critical factor for e-business success. With this assumption at the forefront, application tuning was not considered and scalability was achieved through the purchase of hardware. Should this notion be reviewed in the light of current economic conditions? A set of case studies that give a better perspective to Application Tuning and the benefits that accrue are examined in this paper.
