The fundamentals of oil layer drainage along therncorners of non-circular capillaries in two-phase (gas-oil)rnand three-phase (gas-oil-water) systems were studied.rnExperiments of oil layer flow along the corners of squarerncapillaries were carried out to investigate the saturationrndependency of oil phase relative permeability in singlernlayer drainage. The quadratic behavior of oil relativernpermeability in gas injection process reported in thernliterature was explained. For double-layer flow (waterrnlayer and oil layer) in a three-phase system, numericalrnanalysis showed that the lubricating effect of water layerrnon the relative permeability of oil phase in layer drainagernwas significant. The dependency of oil layer flow byrngravity drainage on oil saturation, water saturation, andrnoil-to-water viscosity ratio was investigated numerically.rnThe experimental results confirmed the mathematicalrnanalysis.
