10 YEARS EXPERIENCE OF STEAM TURBINE MODERNIZATION AND RETROFIT ACTIVITY AT ELBLAG WORKS

ALSTOM Power Ltd. (Elblag, Poland), formerly ABB ALSTOM POWER Ltd. (1999 / 2000.07), ABB Zamech Ltd. (1990 / 1999) and Zamech Mechanical Works, was established in July 2000. The company is characterized by versatility in the field of the steam turbine technology resulting from its own experience and license knowledge regarding impulse and reaction turbines. The authors company is one of leading firms in ALSTOM POWER group in the field of CIS turbine modernization. As Zamech, the firm specialized for 40 years in production of the impulse turbines and built up great experience. From the beginning of the seventies, in the framework of co-operation with the BBC/ABB firm, reaction turbines have also been introduced into production. Affiliation of the authors company to leading turbine companies and access to state of art turbine technology have created the conditions for assimilation of modern designs and for further development of the modernization and retrofit technology based on experience in both fields of impulse and reaction type turbines. This paper presents experience of ALSTOM Power Ltd. at Elblag with respect to retrofit and modernization activities, particularly on 200/215 MW units and with general review on 120 MW, 360 MW and 500 MW turbines which operate in Poland and other countries.
