New general, multidimensional transport equations for two-phase flow have been recently proposed by the author. The new theory is based on a quite simple idea namely, if the phases have different velocities, it is impossible that they cover the same distance in the same time. From this quite different point of view, new mass and energy balances for one-dimensional, steady, two-phase flow have been already presented. In this paper, after briefly reviewing the key points of the new balances, the prediction of the vapor-liquid velocity ratio (the slip) and the vapor void fraction for bulk flow boiling is analyzed with the help of the new approach. The new expressions are well compared with the bulk flow boiling data for a horizontal pipe from the Cambridge Project.
