High temperature deformation dilatometry has been employed to study transformation behaviour of ductile irons (unalloyed and alloyed) during continuous cooling. The samples of both irons were first austenitised at a temperature of 900 deg C for 40 minutes, and then cooled to room temperature at rates ranging from 0.025 to 20 deg C/sec.
