A comparison among a number of different channel allocation strategies in a cellular network is presented. The scenario is represented by a highway in which car densities are predicted by means of simulation techniques and radio resources are allocated accordingly. Four strategies are considered and evaluated. More in particular, the first one is the "classic" static allocation, the second and the third ones perform a periodic channel reallocation (with and without using forecast information), while the fourth one assignes channels in a fully dynamic way (without any forecast information). Blocking probabilities have been chosen as the main performance indicator. Along with comparing such allocation techniques, a simple mechanism is given to map vehicular traffic to telecommunications one. Results are presented which show the performance levels of the aforementioned allocation techniques.
