摘要

The automotive industry uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to operate solenoid valves that will control pressure in automatic transmission systems. A requirement to any realistic data-based engineering study and characterization of the PWM valve performance is the quantification of the equipment accuracy to be used in collecting the data. This study will focus on optimizing the performance of typical hydraulic and measurement equipment essential when evaluating the PWM valve, and discuss the tools and techniques used to stabilize the system performance. The design and operating characteristics of the PWM valve itself will be examined for its' effect on producing consistent results. Only when measurements are accurate, precise and in control can we know what the numbers mean and trust the conclusions made from the tests.
