Volume Manufacturing of LCoS Microdisplays

The emersion of LCoS microdisplay products in the marketplace is inevitable. Cost effective manufacturing dictates high yield processes through a successful integration of semiconductor and liquid crystal technologies with their respective volume manufacturing practices. A convergence of respective mindsets, semiconductor and liquid crystal, is required for this technology to move these products to a commodity level. The responsibility for achieving yield levels that make these devices cost competitive must be equally shared between the silicon design, wafer fabrication LCD assembly and packaging. It is imperative that a philosophy of "Design for Manufacturability " be adhered to.
