The Differential Induction Motor permits the connection of the two opposite side driving wheels of an electric vehicle directly to its two shafts at each side of the motor, providing driving power to the two wheels either when driving straight or when taking a turn, without the need for a differential gear mechanism or for two separate driving motors. This paper presents experimental data to demonstrate the suitability of the motor for electric vehicle application along with a proposed drive strategy.
