Ceramic by its origin is multiphasic. However, in many years, in order to pursue higher performances many electronic ceramics are developing toward single crystalline materials with higher and higher compositional and structural purity. In many cases, it is now very difficult for the monophasic materials to satisfy the very complex requirements both to their properties and to their processing from the advanced technology nowadays. It is the time for electronic ceramists looking back to the diphasic and mutiphasic electronic ceramics to see what can be offered from this idea. The diphasic and multiphase ceramics are not a new idea. Many electronic ceramics are diphasic or multiphasic. The structural ceramists have already adapted the multiphase idea and got splendid success. In this paper arguments of the idea will be discussed, possible routes and examples of the idea will be presented.
