In this contribution, as a major ingredient for non-invasive concepts, a design for industrial surface temperature sensors is presented and motivated by model calculations. Targets include enhanced accuracy and, in particular, a strongly reduced response time. The key point of the concept is a double-sensor design, where one temperature probe is located as close to the surface as possible, while the second one is located at a definite distance. The latter, however, is still small and minimal in a specific sense. These two measurements are used to calculate an estimate for the temperature of the surface. As a result, a new fit-for-industry design is obtained which advantageously re-uses many standard parts from industrial temperature sensors.
