BRAZIL: THE (UML) MODEL IS THE INTERFACE

A reverse engineering activity was performed in an attempt to induce order in the chaos of persons, tools and products involved in a software development process. The goal was to visualize the business process and the product model by means of UML. Some of the resulting UML hyper-diagrams were included in the user interface of Brazil, a gluing application, with the intent to convey a better understanding of the components interlocking, the workflow interactions, the deployment configuration. Brazil, an executable prototype that features UML-based interface, WPDL configuration, Tcl code, matured under the motto: the model is the interface.
