The durability of ventilated solar-thermal collectors depends on the corrosivity of the microclimate inside the collector. Detailed measurement procedures for a large number of parameters have been formulated, in order to make comparative measurements on microclimate parameters in collectors in different ambient climates: The following climatic parameters are measured. Ambient air temperature, ambient air humidity, ambient air pressure, solar insolation, corrosivity, wind speed, wind direction and sky radiation. The measurements of climatic parameters inside the collector are the absorber plate temperature, humidity and temperature in the air gap between absorber and cover plate, cover plate temperature, time-of wetness on the absorber surface and the inner surface of cover plate, corrosivity in the air gap between the absorber and the cover plate and the air exchange or ventilation rate. Identical reference collectors were equipped with sensors and installed at five different locations (in outdoor test facilities of the participants of the group) in Europe. The measurements were started in June 1996 have been performed for one year. Recent work was concentrated on the evaluation of the data. First results are presented.
