摘要

Soft-computing paradigms such as fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, and neural networks are promising alternatives to model-based control approaches for solving a large number of problems including hazardous waste management. Yet, there is not a comprehensive and user-friendly software environment which can easily accommodate experimental research and development in this field. SoftLab~(~R) is a software environment for research and development in intelligent modeling/control using soft-computing paradigms such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms, and genetic programs. SoftLab~(~R) addresses the inadequacies of the existing soft-computing software by supporting comprehensive multidisciplinary functionalities from management tools to engineering systems. Furthermore, the built-in features help the user process/analyze information more efficiently by a friendly yet powerful interface, and will allow the user to specify user-specific processing modules, hence adding to the standard configuration of the software environment. In this paper, the latest features of SoftLab is presented and a road map is provided for its future development.
