41.1: Simulation of Collimating Films for Application in LCDs

摘要

This paper presents an optical simulation used in the design of collimating films using the Solstis photonics design software. Single prismatic films and two crossed prismatic films are investigated and the incorporation of the orthogonal collimating features of both into a pyramidal array is proposed. The results of the prismatic film models are compared with experimental measurements and the limitations of the software discussed.
