The Interferometric Modulator™ (IMod™) is a micromachined, deformable optical cavity whose reflected color changes with the application of a voltage. Exhibiting switching speeds > 50 KHz and prominent hysteresis, these devices show much promise as the basis for video rate full-color reflective FPDs. Their development status will be presented.
