By investigating the energy decay rate in short-pulse wave-packet propagation and the transverse energy drop rate in its profile, it is shown that both the energy decay rate and the energy drop rate are definitely determined by the time-space source parameters. Moreover, definite relation between the slow decay rate and the energy drop rate are constructed. which shows perfect harmony in achieving slower decay and higher concentration of energy in the beam.
