Our problem arose from the automatic drawing of large schema diagrams (LSD) in database field. Each LSD concerned here is represented by a directed graph (digraph) with a structure defined on it, i.e., the digraph is horizontally layered and each layer is vertically partitioned. This paper describes necessary techniques for drawing structured digraphs based on algorithms for unstructured digraphs.
